As a research, Tout Court was concerned first and foremost with the above working structure. The project took structure itself as the content of a research on collectivity, and sought to build a line of dramaturgy in the process of realizing each individual line of work in relation to the other.

As a performance, Tout Court is the tragicomic result of that process.

Labyrinth is a performance, which takes place in an imaginary city. To guide the audience, there is a text and a map, which details this imaginary city. There are also performers in Labyrinth, who enact and animate the invisible city, playing out its characters and its possible comedies and tragedies, as actors and dancers would do on a stage.

The performance occurs in one public space of a real city, and the imaginary city is based upon the real city itself. The imaginary city is only fragments, dreams, half-remembered stories, impressions, images and associations, enacted by the performers who are nearly indistinguishable from the real inhabitants of the city, but for only a few moments when they become visible and then disappear again.

As the performance evolves, an infinite number of possibilities, stories and histories emerge in each stranger, each street and every random event, whether they are performers or people passing by. In this action, the audience loses the definition between the imaginary city and the real city before them.

The research for Labyrinth was supported by Centro de la Memoria Haroldo Conti in Buenos Aires in September/October, 2010.

The first development and performance occurred in the city of Freiburg, Germany (April 29, 30; May 21, 2011) and was supported by Theater Freiburg, Stadt Freiburg, and Landesverband Baden-Württemberg. The second development and performance occurred in the city of St. Pölten, Austria (May 19, 20) and was supported by Festspielhaus St. Pölten.

Heinrich von Kleist’s short story: ” Die Verlobung in St. Domingo”
provides a narrative frame for an original performance which embodies
Kleist’s own struggle with the world — a struggle reflected in many
of his stories depicting civilization in a state of emergency, humans
balanced between order and chaos, between reason and madness.

At twilight the audience makes its way to the shooting range of the
German weapon testing and research institute (D.E.V.A), just a short
distance from the Kleinen Wannsee where Kleist shot himself. There in
the forest  unfolds a complex interplay of bodies and weapons,
situated on the fine line between fiction and reality, between order
and chaos…
